More Than Curly® Salon was founded in May 2011, as Colorado’s only Chemical Free, Curly Educating Salon, by Melissa and Jason Vaz. The desire to open a multi-cultural, drama free, and peaceful Salon environment, that provides Curly Cuts, Color, Wash and Go Styles and Education, was completely Melissa’s idea, after searching for a Curly Salon to work in after becoming licensed, and could find none- When it comes to being creative with Curly Undercuts, fades for women (Fade it and Forget it), or barbering services for that special guy in your life, we have you covered.

*As an exclusively Curly Salon, we only use products that are water soluble or organic and are healthy for your curls. We are a Curly Collaborative Team, sharing the same focus and mission of providing excellent services that produce healthy, happy hair.

We will not have you in the Salon all day, and try our best to be respectful of your time. We will not “slip in” a softening conditioner in your Deep Conditioning Treatment (that’s just wrong). We love Curls and celebrate them.

As a Master Stylist, Melissa trains and certifies each stylist at More Than Curly in our Signature Services. The standard Melissa has set must be met before a stylist performs any services.

“When my clients leave MORE Than Curly Salon, I want them to feel loved! I do this by listening to my clients. Asking them: “What is your hair goal?” and giving them the education to achieve that goal. I want them to leave excited, comfortable, and ready to wear the beautiful curly hair God has given them!

My biggest inspiration is my beautiful husband and best friend who inspires me to be the woman that God has purposed me to be. My mother inspires me also, because she illustrated what hard working, sacrificial love looks like in a mother. I praise the Lord for both of them.

My favorite thing about curls is how there are so many different types of curly hair. I get so excited when a client comes in not liking their curly hair, but loving their curly hair when they leave! They never knew they had such beautiful hair. The words I live by are: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” –Jesus-
